The Old Forge Library, 220 Crosby Blvd., will kick off this season’s First Friday Art Walk on June 2 with a solo exhibit “Discover Yourself Through Watercolor” by artist Lucille Martinelli. The exhibit opening reception will be held on Friday, June 2 from 5 -7 p.m. The public is invited to attend and enjoy light refreshments, meet Lucille and view her artwork.
Lucille and her husband split their time between Old Forge and Mountain Top, PA. She began her journey to finding her passion for art after attending programs and classes offered at the local arts center.
A friend recommended she join the Mountain Air Painters (then known as the Thursday Painters). “I reluctantly joined despite my inability to draw a stick figure” said Martinelli.
Encouraged by the friendly artists of the Thursday Painters, she began painting with watercolors and her passion for art was born. Painting and introducing it to others is a very rewarding experience for her still today. Lucille believes art is a journey not a destination.
“Its message is simple and not so simple, since all will experience your work in so many ways. A testament to diversity. The older I get the more I recognize the wisdom of dust if you must, but wouldn’t it be better to paint a picture. “
“Discover Yourself Through Watercolor” will be on display during library hours from June 2 – July 1.
